Elopement

Nicky & Jack

Nicky and Jack are a couple that has an insane amount of perseverance. They were each living in different countries during the Covid-19 pandemic in the fall of 2020 when they decided they wanted to elope and tie the knot. But they did not let that stop them! They instead decided to have a cross border elopement on Jack’s family property.

We drove down the three hours to the border with the bride and her family and friends to find the groom and his party setting up the ceremony location. They had made the best of a not ideal situation, and decorated the most beautiful aisle for the vows on each side of the fence separating Canada and the United States. They had American flags lining the “aisle” on Jack’s side, and Canadian flags lining the “aisle” on Nicky’s side.

The sun was warm but the wind was cool on this late September afternoon, as tears were shed on both sides of the border during the ceremony and vow reading, including from yours truly!

Another special moment was when Nicky got to see her ring Jack had picked out for her in secret for the first time, and the look on her face was absolutely priceless.

The evening was spent eating, drinking and laughing, as there were smiles all around from the newly joined families, and happy newly weds.

Congratulations, Nicky and Jack!
